Medical/Dental Cross Coding Track
The Association for Integrity in Health Care Documentation announces the introduction of our 1st ever Medical/Dental Cross Coding track, presented by Marianne Harper..
Essentially, many dental procedures are medically necessary and payable by medical insurance carriers. Medical Dentistry is the natural evolution of the current general and surgical dental practice.
Due to increasing documentation and recognition regarding the correlation between medical and dental health and the profound effect both play in overall health, many medical insurance companies are recognizing the medical necessity of a variety of dental treatments and procedures. These same procedures and treatments are performed by dentists on a regular basis and when medically necessary can and should be billed to a patient’s medical insurance provider.
The process of Medical/Dental Cross Coding creates a whole new arena of preventative and holistic health to those patients who do not have dental insurance. Cross Coding will provide supplemental resources for patients to receive the medically necessary dental care they need. In addition, dentists will realize a greater revenue stream and an expanded base of compliant patients.
The Association for Integrity in Health Care documentation is pleased to be advocating and introducing the education and implementation of Medical/Dental Cross Coding at this year's 2nd Annual AIHCD Conference . The sessions will be presented on Friday, March 30th, by Marianne Harper, owner, The Art of Practice Management.
The process is easily adapted into the dental practice and cost of implementation is minimal. It’s a win-win situation for dentists and patients alike.
